Frequently Asked Questions

How long are the individual therapy sessions?

Most individual sessions are scheduled for once a week or every two weeks and they usually last 50 – 60 minutes.

How much do the individual therapy sessions (anxiety & depression) cost?

All clients must attend a consult appointment prior to therapy to determine if CBT is right for you. The consult is $75. The regular session fee for individual therapy is $100.  Each session is usually 50-60 minutes in length.  Payment is due at the time of each session, unless another arrangement has been made, and it can be made by cash, cheque, major credit card, tap debit card or etransfer. A receipt will be issued. We do not bill to insurance companies directly.

Note: The Ontario Health Insurance Plan does not pay for private social work services.  Some extended health insurance plans will reimburse all or part of the fees paid to a social worker.  Extended healthcare insurance plans differ in the types of coverage they provide.  Check your plan in order to see what the coverage is for a registered social worker.  Non-reimbursed fees paid to a registered social worker in Ontario may be claimed as medical expenses on your income tax return.

How much does the CBT for Insomnia program (CBTi) cost?

CBTi (individual) costs $600 (4 90-minute sessions over 7 weeks). This cost includes all materials, which will then be yours to keep and continue to use for future reference. Many employee extended health benefit plans will cover CBTi as it is administered by our team with Masters of Social Work.

Participants will be required to attend a one-time individual consultation appointment that costs $75 prior to the program to determine appropriateness for participation and to receive instructions regarding program requirements.

I am not sure I can afford it. Do you accept lower fees?

We do not accept lower fees for our services. You have to ask yourself how important addressing your mental health issues is to you. This investment in yourself could improve your quality of life.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Rethink CBT services are strictly confidential.  No information is released without your written permission, except as required by Ontario law.  There are certain situations when a therapist is obligated by law to break confidentiality, specifically:

  1. Any past or imminent harm or abuse to a child currently younger than 16 years of age

  2. Any imminent threat of harm to self or to another person

  3. Any sexual abuse or sexually inappropriate comments to a patient by a registered healthcare professional (this information will be reported to the registered healthcare professional's governing college but your name would not be provided without your written permission)

  4. Courts may order disclosure of a clinical file
